Orlando Area Deep Sea Fishing Charter - 23 May 16

Most people fail to realize that Port Canaveral is the closest port offering deep sea, offshore fishing charters to the Orlando, Disney and Universal Studios area attractions. Just 45 minutes to 1 hour away, lies the sleepy (well, not as sleepy as it used to be!) town of Cocoa Beach and nearby Cape Canaveral. Port Canaveral is closer to Orlando than Daytona, New Smyrna and even Tampa / St. Petersburg on the West Coast. Lari Kippen knows this all too well and I was happy to host him aboard for yet another deep sea fishing adventure out of Canaveral. Lari and his buds have been fishing with me for years and it was good to re-connect with a familiar face. Options were a bit limited on this day but we found great action with catch and release Red Snapper, Seabass, Jack Crevalle and Triggerfish. Not a lot for the box but tons of fun to be had. The surprise fish of the day was a 24 lb Dolphin (aka - Dorado) that fell for the high speed lure on the ride back to port. It was Lari's first Dolphin and I was glad to be there to share in his moment. Great fish and great to see you again Lari!
